| Abstract: | The objective of this Guidance is to improve the safety and security of imports and exports of radioactive sources in accordance with the provisions laid down in paragraphs 23–29 of the Code. With this objective in mind, this Guidance is not intended to impede international cooperation or commerce, as long as these do not contribute to the use of such sources for purposes that threaten safety and security. Exporting and importing States should aim to follow this Guidance when deciding whether or not to authorize exports and imports of Category 1 and 2 sources. States should consider this Guidance in a manner consistent with their national legislation and relevant international commitments. |
